The Client

Alameda County ECD

Economic Community Development Department for Alameda County.

The Needs

The client aimed to document and craft a narrative illustrating how a public entity can collaborate effectively with a private developer to enhance community development.

The video highlighted the challenges, process, and final outcome, demonstrating transparency in the use of funds to build a community hub. It also served to raise awareness of the partnership and inspire other counties to adopt similar collaborative models within their communities.

The Work

Video Production

Documentary on a Public - Private Partnership

I produced a short documentary for Alameda County’s Community Development Agency / Economic Development Dept.

The premise of the video is a public / private partnership and how economic development funds were used to help develop the anticipated food hall in the East Bay, the Castro Valley Marketplace. With a partnership with the County, the long vacant building was transformed into a place the community could gather, eat, shop and hangout amongst other things.

I was the lead camera (Director of Photography) and video editor. I controlled and positioned cameras for compositional shots, found and licensed music used, color graded, recorded audio interviews and balanced the sound levels.

Print / Digital Design

Visual Aid Poster / Foam Boards

Designed large foam / poster boards for each phase of the process. The poster boards were sat on easels and used as visual aids for the grand opening of the Marketplace where Alameda County representatives did a Q&A session with community members on how a Public – Private Partnership were formed in developing the Castro Valley Marketplace.
